Over time, I’ve loved to see pivots in the field to leverage annotations or some of the encoding methods you reference to highlight the headline from a given visual. While a bit more manual, I’ve found that taking the time to point out or, say, change the color of the data point of interest, saves invaluable time for decision makers and reinforces the expertise of the data analyst/scientist in calling out insights.
A while ago our author team did a large scale experiment on the effects of dataviz. Don't want to market our study but think it could be a fun read to anyone interested in dataviz. Thanks for the blog post, Josep. As usual, I read your work with joy!
